MaryKay grew up with several dogs (an Old English Sheepdog and two Labs). Through out her teenage years she walked the dogs at the veterinarian's office and worked with a local man who trained his labs for field work.

Since college she has owned 5 dogs of her own. Her first dog was a fluffy German Spitz (she lived to be 17 years old). MK then found a very cute white boxer girl with a blue eye. About 24 hours after bringing home the puppy, it was obvious that she was deaf. (That got MK started in training all over again).

Then a chunky little white boxer boy caught her eye. He could hear and helped out with the deaf one, when he wasn't bothering her and his other fuzzy sister.

After the two females passed on, it was time to rescue a sweet deaf boxer girl who was given up for adoption. Being a "sucker" for dogs with special needs, MaryKay adopted yet another special soul who needed a loving home with a lot of consistency. No one is too sure what kind of a mix he is and he is not telling.

MK has been training dogs with Canine Behavior Center Inc. since 1996 and has owned her own in-home boarding business since 2001. She is currently working towards her last 300 level class to obtain her dog massage therapy license and is interested in holistic care for dogs. She also has a degree in Bilingual/Elementary Education with several supporting endorsements and teaches and tutors Spanish several hours a week.
